Buying/selling

Our Property Department has the experience and resources to manage complex deals for major corporations as well as everyday transactions for local businesses. We will devise and put into place legal structures that will minimise your VAT and other tax liabilities.

Our knowledge of the property markets in south and west London is a real benefit to our clients. We have strong ties with other professionals and keep a close watch on our local authorities’ planning procedures and priorities. We have our finger on the pulse of the business community and are often aware of new opportunities before our clients and their other advisers.

Landlord/tenant

We advise both landlords and tenants on all aspects of landlord and tenant law.

We will prepare, advise on and negotiate leases and tenancy agreements. We will explain the legal implications as they may affect you as a landlord or tenant, ensuring you are fully aware of the significance of, for example, service charge provision in the context of repairs and maintenance and any limitations that may affect the development of your business. We will advise you on the terms of a new lease, when you want to vary existing terms or deal with an unreasonable tenant/landlord. When problems arise, we will work closely with you in order to stop any unreasonable behaviour and seek compensation for any loss you might have suffered.

Property development

Acting for clients involved in investment, development and refurbishment, we will work to achieve the best outcome, not just simply deal with the legal procedures. Through careful contract negotiation, drafting and co-ordination, we aim to reduce the likelihood of disputes arising later, minimise your exposure to risk and maximise your ability to control the development.

We will assess and advise on the planning, taxation and environmental issues and we can contribute to your risk/feasibility assessment. Our solicitors’ local knowledge and contacts, including access to sources of finance, can prove to be invaluable and give our clients an important commercial edge.
